This week The Artemis Even Keel Project UK fleet have hit the road again and travelled north to compete in the Sailability Multi Class Regatta, hosted by Rutland Sailing Club After a very successful and busy Cowes Week, which saw over one hundred people take to the water with the project, the Even Keel team are now looking to highlight the competitive qualities of the Artemis20s, which are already widely considered to be the best looking two person keel boat available.
After dismantling the fleet and double stacking the now infamous trailers the team had another long road trip north before arriving in Rutland on Wednesday afternoon. The now perfectly rehearsed build went smoothly and before the team knew it the fleet was together looking smart and ready to race. Although the main aims of The Even Keel Project are to increase accessibility to sailing we are also driven to be successful in competitive circles, so the Multi Class regatta provides us with an excellent opportunity to compare the boats against other alternatives.
Today saw the teams, who have been arranged by Debbie Blatchford at RYA Sailability, congregate in the club house and be briefed on the race and practice sessions. The teams will comprise of the following sailors; Lucy Hodges and Ian Shirra, Toby Davie and Gary Butler, Allison Grant and Claire 'minxy' Tibbott, Chris Atkins and John Dickens. The project would like to wish all of the teams the best of luck for the events Saturday and Sunday and we are sure they will do well.
If you would like to support the teams then racing starts at 1130am on Saturday on Rutland Water and everyone is welcome down. We are also looking to provide 'try sailing' opportunities after the racing on the Monday, if you are interested in this then please email: info@theevenkeel.com for further details and bookings.
